because it's a commonly held (and RACIST) belief that Chinese restaurants cook stray cats and dogs and serve them to customers
why they would go to the trouble, when they can get boneless chicken a $1.59/lb is beyond me, but then racists aren't the most rational of people.

There is a vet's office across the alley from my driveway. Next door to the office is a chinese restaurant...one of the cheaper ones.
Not only are there no strays in this neighborhood, but I never see the truck that comes to pick up the carcasses!
