I've developed a crush on a department head where I work. He's not my direct boss and we have littler interaction. I believe him to be one of these proper guys that won't date a co-worker and I can't figure out how to get around his sense of decorum (which btw...I like). How can I tempt him to make an exception and take a chance with me? Please keep in mind, we are ten years and three inches apart (I'm taller and younger). Also, I am a bit shy and very old-fashioned.

Now, any ideas out there?

Just my opinion: I think you should not put him in that difficult situation and risk losing both of your jobs. That is, if he really is one of those proper types.
Besides, work relationships never work out.
Good luck.

this is my advice
* ask him to a casual luch
* if he says no take a hint and leave him alone
* if you have a good time and he says "we should do that again" you're in
* if you don't have a good time again leave him alone
ANOTHER TIP
If anything goes wrong just to let you know this is putting your job at danger!!!! If your job is very important to you, don't so it ok.

Good luck♥

P.S.
Is he married?
