By doing weight training. To start, get yourself 5 lbs dumbbells and do lifts, squats and bicep curls. If you go to the gym, try the different weight machines, the more resistance the more muscle you will gain. If you want to just shape up without looking bulky, do lots of reps with lighter weights. It worked for me.

Getting toned up is usually an alias for increasing muscular definition. In reality, it is determined by the presence of muscle mass and the relative absence of fat, and both conditions must be satisfied in order to have good definition or "tone". Nutrition is the most important component, followed by weight training, followed by cardio (believe it or not). Here is a link with more info.

It means getting your body lean, basically muscle tone showing but not rippling like Arnold. Light weight training and cardio are the way to get there. Cardio 3 times a week, and weights at least two.

Getting toned up firming your body and getting it more shapely! I recommend it to alot of people as they are loosing weight, so they can prevent saggy skin, plus look good while they're loosing it. You every see gals with Chicken wings? Flabby Butts or wobbly stomaches. You see all that can be reduced by toning up and burning fat.

Toning up is also weight lifting, and when a gal lift weights she doesnt get buff! She looses inches.

Buy a pilates tape or get a ball and some resistance bands and check out some workout routines for toning your body here!
