You are too young to date. You are too young to understand the consequences of dating this young. Why are you in such a hurry to grow up? Enjoy your childhood while you can! Before you know it, the carefree days of youth are gone and everything becomes way too serious!
Not only do I think you should wait until high school to start dating, I think you should wait until junior year of high school to start dating. In 9th and 10th grade, you should just stick to "group dates" where there is safety in numbers. There are 40 pregnant teens at my local high school. F-O-R-T-Y! And most of them are freshman. Believe me, it's not worth rushing into.

when i was that age (which wasnt that longn ago, since i'm a high school senior now!!! woowoot!) i thought that parents were silly for not letting their kid date, but now as I look back, nothing really good comes from dating in middle school. Yes, it's ok if watched closely by parents, but most adults dont have a lot of time to invest into their kids relaionships. Well, your best bet would continue building a good relationship with the guy you like, because once you hit high school....THINGS WILL BE SOOOO MUCH BETTER! lol. and that is no lie (b/c thats exactually what i choose to do!)

I am suprised at the amount of people who said no. Wow, and to the person who said to have fun in our childhood, isn't this part of our childhood? Anyway I say why not? Adults these days often seriously underestimate the maturity level of kids. I am in 8th grade and never went on a date before but I think we should be able to do what we want. Its normal to like someone at that age and it is also normal to want to go out at that age. I personally don't want to date till high school but thats me. Respect your parents decision about it. You might not like it but oh well.

Go out with groups of friends (not the kind that pairs off). This will give you a chance to get to know guys in a safer environment. I know it is hard right now when others are "dating", but try to think long-term. You are not likely to meet the person you want to spend the rest of your life with right now. High school and college will bring new people/possibilities into your life. Spending that much time with one guy now may lead to things that you will regret later.

It depends if you're doing it for you or just because you like the idea of having a boyfriend. I'm 13, and so many people have girlfriends and boyfriends. It's not so much because they REALLY like each other, but just because they want to be in a relationship like everyone else is. That's just how middle school is. I wouldn't say you're too young. It depends on the person. Of course it's not going to be like having a boyfriend/girlfriend in high school, but you can start out small and work it out with your mom to see if she will agree.

I know you won't believe this but you will benefit from your parents wise choice. Trust that your parents know what is best for you.
Dating is hard even for the most mature teenager.
Sorry but I don't think you will get too much support for middle school age dating from most of us.
Believe time will fly for you and you will be of age before you know it!

Sorry to say that I have to agree with your parents, you have your whole life ahead of you. get your education first, go have fun in school activities. enjoy being you. and when the time is right you will find the perfect person for you. I didn't start dating til my last year of high school. and I am glad that I waited and got my education and that. good luck.

Yes, too young! It's hard to find yourself if you start dating at such an early age. When your in a relationship you can't help but let other peoples feelings affect the way you think and feel. That's why it's important to stay single.
