Depends on their caste. Brahmins aren't allowed to eat meat at all, while 'the untouchable' eat everything thay can find. Cow is considered mother of Indians and is thus holy animal, cannot be eaten or mistreated.
I've noticed that many Hindus abstain from pork but they eat other meat, except for beer. I'm not sure is it due to long coexistence with Muslims and they consider pig as unclean, or is it due to Hiduism or any other reason.
But sure there is no strict prohibition as it exists in Islam, Judaism and some Christian denominations.

I take it you mean HINDU? Hindu's are vegetarian and don't eat meat at all, the cow is a sacred animal to them and highly respected. Muslims and Jews don't eat pork. As a Muslim myself i can tell you there is no curse by God if i am dying of starvation and the only thing to eat is pork, God knows that its permissible. Other than being on the brink of death by starvation there is no way i would eat pork, NONE!

I think you mean Hindu. If they are very religious they don't eat any meat at all because they believe it is wrong to kill animals. As the cow is the most holy animal for them, they don't eat beef if they are at least a bit religious. I once knew a Hindu who ate poultry, but no beef or pork, and he said pork is impure, so he gave the Muslim/Jewish explanation for this which surprised me, but it might be an influence from the Muslims in India.

Of course not. Hindus are vegetarian not just because their God forbids it but they found eating meat (not only pork) meat unhealthy. Their body systems therefore reject it but it is not God's curse. It is just they have been ahead of our time and it is only this generation that many western doctors find human will stay healthy by eating vegetables and fruits. The only thing that stops doctors from announcing it as true because there will be lots of businesses that sells meat will be affected thus affecting so many country's economy.
Remember, human teeth are normally set without fangs; meaning it is not used to tear flesh like the lions, tigers, dogs and cats etc. Our teeths were set like those of the cows, carabaos, sheep, goats and other vegetable and fruit eating animals. So, where do you think we should identify with our eating habits?

I believe Hindus cannot have meat ever in their lifetime. Either that or on Thursdays.
