You are absolutely correct, and nowhere is this more prevalent then in the car!
The only solution, as I see it, is to teach good manners to our children and practice them ourselves no matter how others behave..Maybe we can change the world
One thank you at a time.

I say it no matter what and I teach my 5 year old the same.
Even my mom in old age still insists we say it if we forget. It is so ingrained in my head. Manners stay with you forever.

As for other parents not sure if they teach them.

I know of a mother that NEVER taught her children manners or calling people by name or Mr. and Mrs. and then you wonder what she did in her life? This is an utmost crime.
The ruder people are, I stay away from them because those are people you DON'T look up to.

First off- thank you for allowing me to post my comment. I have to agree 100% that manners are instilled in the home. I take pride in teaching my sons to acknowledge all helpful gestures. People may not realize this, but good manners can land good jobs, to good homes, to comfortable lives (and not to mention decent spouses). Have a blessed Day ! ~

Yes, I agree. However, we can't just blame it on the young people. I see men in their 50s on up wearing their hats in restuarants, for instance. As a woman, I thank any man who holds a door for me, to encourage manners. More of us need to set an example.

Yes, I really do agree with you. People are so impolite and they won't take accountability for anything. Some days I feel like I'm the last nice, honest person in the world!

i couldn't agree more. bad manners are one of my pet peeves. the biggest actually. i don't get it either. they've gone completely out the window and it's frustrating. maybe it's just the era i was raised in.

UN-fortunately yes, I Think good manners ended by the end of 20th century. Its money times now. If saying thanks to someone Worth's, say it, if not, forget it.

I feel that it may have gone down the toliet, but in order to change this we need to teach our kids to respect more. My son's are 2 3 and 5 they all say please and thank you.

I agree. I'm always catching myself too. People will thank me for something, and instead of saying thank-you I'll just nod my head or smile, or I'll say "uh huh".
What's this world coming too?
