I am traveling to Egypt for an extended period of time. It is possible I may end up giving birth there because I am almost due. Will there be ANY issue on the nationality of my child and will I need any special paperwork to bring him home?

I suggest you contact the American Embassy immediately when you get to Egypt. Inform them of your condition, and ask what paperwork will be needed when the child is born. The baby is an American citizen, however; if don't be suprised if some morning he greets you with "Saba Al-khear".
(That's arabic for "good morning")

You will have quite a story to tell him when he gets older about where he was born. Congrats!

Are you and the father US citizens? If you both are it will just be a matter of filing paperwork to get your child into the US, but you will need to do that. Why don't you look into it before you go, so you are prepared to ask for whatever you need at the hospital in terms of paperwork?

I'm Egyptian, and the answer for your question is No, there are no problems or issues on the nationality of your baby.
Egyptian Law doesn't give the nationality except for children of Egyptian fathers.
So, You can go to your embassy and have his birth certificate.
