I have a question I am a first time mom and my mom keeps on bugging me about this. my situation is that i my son is uncircumcised and i want to know when should i start retracting his skin? I have been taking him to doctor for his check ups and his pediatrician has never told me anything about it can you please give me some advice! should i wait until his older or now and how do i do it! his next appointment is until august . Also he has never had infection or anything like that on his penis!

I went through the same doubts as you, and I ended up having my son circumsiced at 7 months. My husbands ex-girlfriend was told not to pull their sons foreskin back to clean it, so she didn't, and he had to get circumcised at age 5!!! I know many children that have to be done now because their parents were told not to pull them back. All I did was ask my doctor (who told me not to pull it back) one question.. i said " do you pull back your foreskin to clean yourself?" He said "well, yes, of course" Well, that told me all I needed to know. When you are bathing your son, just LIGHTLY pull back the foreskin on the head of his penis and wash there. Don't force it or anything. If you find that you cannot pull it back easily or that it seems stuck, take him to a doctor immediately to rule out the possibility of an infection. Good Luck

Best to start doing it now. Also pull it back when you bathe him. It will keep him clean and make sure he keeps on not having infections. As you potty train, make sure to teach him to pull back the skin too. I'm a mom to 3.
