Allawishes ~

Definitely! Since the 1982 tragic death of Duk Koo Kim boxing made it's biggest mistake and changed the 15 round Championship distance to 12 rounds. Ever since then there has been one bad decision after another, every year there's a half of dozen fights ending in controversy and boxing has been no safer. The United States Boxing Commission made a horrible mistake just like them not making the standing eight count mandatory in all states that sanction boxing matches.

How many times have you personally watched a fight and knew that if the fight were 15 rounds instead of 12 there would be a clear cut winner. Lets just take one fight for example the Meldrick Taylor/ Julio Cesar Chavez fight, although referee Richard Steele did his job correctly (unlike so many referees today) and stopped that fight with only 12 seconds remaining controversy will be forever labeled to that fight because Meldrick was winning the fight up until the point of the knock down had the fight been 15 rounds there would be no question of the fights outcome.

The 15 rounds were indeed "The Championship Rounds" in would be in the best interest of the sport to bring them back. The 15 round distance was only for title fights since the late 1930's at one point a portion of Joe Louis title fights were scheduled for 20 rounds.

Thanks for the question Allawishes.

I think it should definatly go back to 15 rounds, or at least a odd number like 13. If 1 fighter wins 6 round and the other wins 6 its a draw. Nobody wants to see a draw, the fans want a outcome one way or another. That will eliminate that. Also it will eliminate if a boxer is just about to go down in the 12, he will have to hold on for 3 more rounds, The championship rounds!!

Yes I'm all for 15 rounds. Rounds 13, 14, and 15 have always been called the championship rounds.

I wish it would go back to 15 rounds and I believe it will someday because 12 rounds is not enough we might as well go down to 10 rounds no one want,s to see anyone die in the ring but thoes extra 3 rounds are championship rounds

Yes, but instead of bit titles it should only be extended to World Champions or those who are recognized as the best champion in the division.

There was a time when a world champion was exactly that instead of the unified world champion. It means the same except they only had one title to say they were the champ.

no must brian injuries occur after round tweleve when fighters are fatiuged and deahydrated.when there isnt enogh fluid around the brain your gonna have problems (muhamad ali after the fraiser 15 round fight) he was never the same agian and look at him now one of my heroes cant talk walk or control his body . bad desisions will occur no matter how long the fight goes. a worse decision would be not learning from that

Twelve rounds is enough time to see who is the better fighter. To go back to 15 is not healthy for a fighter to take the added risk.

The blogbaba must, again, tip his hat to Santana, I couldn't have said it better myself. Great answer, the blogbaba gave you a thumbs up.

Boxing never should have went to 12 it was a mistake.

IT WILL NOT HAPPEN FOR HEALTH REASONS. AS FAR AS CONTROVERSIAL FIGHTS OCCURRING BECAUSE OF 12 RD BOUTS, THERE HAVE BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE CONTROVERSIAL BOUTS/DECISIONS/FIGHTS AS LONG AS HUMAN BEINGS ARE JUDGES.

I REALLY DON'T THINK A LOT OF THESE FIGHTERS WOULD MAKE IT TO 15 RDS, ESPECIALLY THE HVY WTS.

i think that you have to fight with heart and not give up and you have to beat your opponent in the ring and you should not cheat. i think that is one of the best rules in boxign and i don.t think that it will change that but whatever yesteday produced will not be todays rules and it should not be changed to 15 rounds.
