Yep, two Jack Russel females are bad news together. I have a Jack female and we recently rescued a female pit bull. Our Jack is 6 years old, very antisocial. Took awhile but she is getting fairly comfortable around the other dog.
With another Jack I am sure it would be more troublesome.
Time and training will help but not entirely solve the problem.
Since they are young it should be a little easier, but training will have to be strict and often.

Typical example of the owner needing training to the needs of the dogs. Classes should have been started as soon as they were old enough. As to not being able to keep female terriers together. I own 9 females, assorted breeds, including terriers, they all live in the house, and I would not allow them to fight. In season or not, the training, started at the correct age, is the key. I despair of people who wait until there is a problem, because, by that time, it is such hard work. Why oh why don't people do a bit of reading before owning a dog?

Your mom should be able to walk two dogs at a time. Have the dogs been neutered, if not, I recommend it. If she has not taken the dogs to basic obedience, she should try that. There is a collar called a gentle leader that may be a good solution but she should have an experienced trainer show her how to use it. She chould also try clicker training. Jack Russells are not large dogs so they should be controllable. It is not uncommon for female terriers to have issues with each other so training is essential.

I have a jack russell puppy and from the all the books and articles I have found about them....you are really not supposed to have two females...as it can cause many aggression problems between the two. I would definitely recommend obedience training if you havent already...it can be really great. As far as the muzzle, she has to be consistent....obviously most dogs are not going to like it in the beginning...but they have to learn to get used to it. Jack russells are extremely persistent and once you start letting them take over ...its not good.

Did she socialize them with other dogs when they were puppies...dog parks, walking downtown to meet people, etc.?? How old are they now??

there is a newer type of "choke chain" its not even a choke chain though, its called a "halti" what it does is loops around the snout and the back of the head. you have more control of where the dogs are going. it pulls thier heads in a downward position and squeezes (depending on how hard you pull) thier snouts, again giving you more control. that should help the biting eachother and pulling, the growling and barking not so much. my little dogs used to bark out of excitement when i first started walking them, but once they knew where they were going they got used to the houses and dogs in the neighborhood and quit , except when they see something new.

This is quite common for high spirited terriers such as the jr.I would advice muzzling them if you think they will do harm, dont use choke chains there is no need.Your mum needs to spend time training them indifidualy, puppys bought together usually end up with a very close bond together but tend to ignore the owner, although its inconvient for your mum to be taking them out seperatly she may have to keep this up untill she has more basic control over them both.If none of them are spayed i would advice getting one or both done as when female is about to come into season they can get very snappy and aggresive, and two bi tches fighting is often much worse then 2 males.Do they have enough toys and regular walks to keep them entertained?have they been well socilised? If your mum cannot cope then is it possible you could rehome one of the sisters?Look into training classes aswell as this will help build your mums confidence with handling them both.Good luck.

It is very common for 2 littermates of the same sex to fight with each other. Once they have started fighting it can be very hard to stop them. Fights between 2 female dogs in the same house can get really nasty and they can do a huge amount of damage to each other. Also, these 2 are terriers so more likely to be reactive and intolerant of each other.

Get advice from a behaviourist now before they harm each other seriously!

don't let the dogs walk in front of you or close together. have one dog on either side. If one starts acting up give it a quick jerk as correction and continue walking. If the dogs try to get at each other make sure your body is being used to distract their attention from one another. Try your best to keep walking them without having to continually stop. Also try socializing them while in the home

Ideally two females wouldn't be kept together, but I've seen 2 b-t-hes co-exist together in perfect harmony. I suggest seeking advice from your local training facilty/animal behaviourist. They can help your mother find a solution. Keep persevering it will be worth it.
