im allowing my cat to eat canned cat foods (fancy feast, sheba, whiskies, elegant medleys) now because he likes soft better than hard. but im used to just filling up his bowl with the dry food and leaving it out until its gone then filling it back up. since he's on cans now and we're not here to give him 3-5 meals or whatever at a certain time all day everyday i dont know how i should feed him. we just look down and if we notice his bowl is empty we give him a can but he's going through 3 and more cans a day. how should i feed him to where he's full but he's eating like he's used to. also i was giveing him nutro and supposed to be healthy and all that but he eats ALOT but he seems to be slimming down instead of fattening up. i just had him checked out in november and they said he's healthy but i want him FAT and cute like garfield, but healthy. his mom was siamese so maybe he'll just gain his weight in his tummy and get longer and heavier but not fat.?

When I took my new cat into the vet to be neutrered, she said my cat was on his way to being heavy. He doesn't look heavy to me! My first cat was overweight though, had a tummy that hung low, like a beer gut, kunda cute. Anyway his tubby butt lived almost 18 years. This one, she said was on his way there... soo, she told me to NOT leave dry food out all of the time. I feed him a third of a can of wet food a day, she says this is fine for a 11 month old cat. She told me to put him on Purina1 (She hates Whiskas & Friskies) apparently Whiskas is the McDonalds of the cat food world, and to limit his dry food, which I've done. Ofcourse he still gets a healthy dose of moth or fly..whatever he can get his samurai-like claws into.

Fat is not good for a cat, any more than it is for a person. It can lead to several diseases, including early arthritis.

Ask your vet how heavy a cat his size should be. An average size cat would probably be between 8-12 lbs, depending on how big their frame is. We feed ours about 1/2 or 2/3 cup of dry food per day, plus about 1 oz. of canned food. They all weigh about 10-11 lbs. With more than one cat, you have to watch that the dominant one doesn't push the others away from their food to get it for themselves, of course.

We get friskies. We feed our cat two times a day only half a can. Siamese are usually skinny. If you want him plump just leave him out dry food and feed him half a can every time you eat a meal. Good luck! :)

hmm thats a tricky one. most food have a feeding guide on them, for the size of your cat, hold your cat and weigh your self then again with out cat this give u approx cat weight, then u can work our proper amount of food to be fed,
siamese are slender cats so u may find hes not gona faten up plus its not healthy for a cat to be over weight, if woried as vet for advice
