For a sin to be a mortal sin, three things are required:

* the matter must be "grave";
* the sin must be committed with full knowledge; and
* the sin must be committed deliberately.

So, if you didn't know what you were doing was a mortal sin, then, according to the Church, you didn't commit a mortal sin. However, if you THINK it might be, then that is just as good as knowing.

In order for a person to commit a MORTAL sin, three conditions must be met:

1. The act done must be of very serious matter.
2. The person who committed the very seriously wrong act must have known that it was very wrong to do this.
3. The person who did the very seriously wrong thing must have done so of their own free will with no coercion.

im not sure i believe in mortal and venial sins; i think i belive all sins are equal. but a priest in my church once said, its hard to commit a mortal sin, you need to have the intention, plan it, and then commit it. its lots of work to commit a mortal sin, so just dont do it =] so to answer your question, it is not a mortal sin if you didnt know it was a sin.

Sins, mortal or otherwise, change with the wind. The church reshuffles them every so often. Wait a few months and what ever sin you have committed will become nothing more than an irritation.

Only if you really think it is a mortal sin now and do it again and even then it's not really a sin.
Sin is about religious belief and that hasn't necessarily any basis in fact ...as we all know.

The concept of mortal sins is from catholicism and is not the whole story, which is how deceit is generally composed. Repent of any sin you know you have committed and trust in the Lord. Read the King James bible and pray and seek God's face daily.

If you think it is, then all you have to do is ask God to forgive you for all the sins you have ever committed against Him, whether by my knowledge or not...

It covers them all, that is the way to pray make sure you get it all covered to be on the safe side.........

As I understand it, sin is a deliberate thing. If you don't know you're sinning, then how can you be held accountable?

If a person isn't capable of understanding and appreciating the consequences of their actions, they aren't held accountable by the law!

Missing the mark is missing the mark...regardless of knowledge, however, sins are forgiven.
