I'm more inclined to think that your boyfriend has gastritis...very common among drinkers. This is an inflammation of the stomach causing pain, bloating, belching, nausea and vomiting. It still requires a visit to the doctor for diagnosis and treatment. I found this site which will give you more info and in non-medical terms:
http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gastritis/index.htm
As for liver problems, the symptoms would be:
yellowing of the skin/whites of eyes (jaundice)
an enlarged liver
backed up bile (cholestasis)
fluid build up in abdomen (ascites)
portal hypertension
I suggest you get your boyfriend to see a doctor. If he continues to drink, and has gastritis, he could develop stomach bleeding. Untreated stomach bleeding can be fatal. He definitely needs to stop drinking as he is risking his health and his life.

Alcohol has a direct affect on the lining of the stomach, causing nausea and vomiting, occasionally of blood. Of course, it is easy to simply say: Quit drinking! But, if he continues, he may get some relief from using Pepcid or Prilosec.
The liver might get sick, but blood tests would be needed to see those early signs.

Does he have problems urinating?
Does his skin have a yellowish tinge?
A sensitive stomach may also be a sign of too much gas buildup. Same with the nausea. Have a doctor check it out.

Jaundice (yellowish skin), abdominal pain are some I can think of for cancer.
He might also have cirrhosis from his drinking problems.
