Wiccan of 11 years. UK.

I was fortunate to have been brought up by an atheist mother who believed that it was my choice to follow a religion or not. I will do the same for my children. Faith should be a choice, not a demand.

I am solitary now, but was once part of a Gardnerian coven. It didn't work for me, but it does for others.

I am a Gypsy, but born in California, right now (for a few more days) I am in Texas. Next month New Mexico.
I am Pecti-Witan (aka Hedge Witch, not Wiccan) a "solitary" practitioner of "the Old Religion", and have been for over 40 years. What is your denomination?
I do read tarot cards, rune stones and utilize a number of other "fortune telling" tools but would NEVER charge anyone for anything I do! Besides, I do not do "readings" or "cast spells" for others on demand. That sounds more like a con game!
Now as for what I did to start, well, it seemed to come naturally to me, as I think this is not my first life (nor the last) as a witch. I have always had a deep respect for nature and have an inate ability to communicate with animals. When I was very young my parents encouraged me to learn about all religions, so I did. The fact that my mother was a closet witch and my great grandfather was a Comanche Medicine Man may have had something to do with it. But I did not know this until I chose my path.
I hope you find the answers you were looking for.

Becoming a wiccan should be more complex than as a knee-jerk reaction to a mainstream church. This priest was having other issues. The problem with this approach is that when you meet a priest who believes in their church's teachings (many do), you convert back.

Wiccans find their spirituality in nature. Trees, flowers, and animals are all part of God's kingdom, and may lead us toward a greater spirituality.

Hi! I am from Hamilton, OH., I always had my doubts about the Christian religion. Mom was Catholic, but when she got divorced, the church excommunicated her - never understood that, why would they want her to live in violence and poverty when she could do better on her own? Anyway, she tried to raise us to believe in God and such, but as I read up on Wicca, it seems that is what my mom was trying to teach us. So, the more I studied up on Wicca, the more I liked it. I have been a solitary Wiccan for a little over a year now and am really happy. Wicca makes more senses to me than any of the "Christian" religions. I also ran into alot of so-called christians that ended up being real hypocrites. I love Wicca and am glad I chose it. There is alot to learn and some wonderful ways to learn it.
Blessed Be!

I've been studying various pagan and magical paths since I was 17, and practicing since I was 19. My primary attraction atr first was the sanctity of Nature; later on I grew to enjoy the company of other pagans, and also increased my focus on magical practice.

I bear no animosity towards Christianity; for me to say all Christians are evil would be hypocritical, since I know plenty of Christians who are good people. I figure we'll all end up in the same place eventually anyway; just a matter of what path we personally take to get there.

I've been Pagan for about 21 years now. I turned from Christianity at age 12. I did turn to Atheism for about 6 months when I was 15, but came right back to Paganism. My more complete story can be found on my Yahoo 360 Blog. :) I'm in Colorado.

From: WI
When: 6 years ago
Why: I was lost. I couldn't tye my own shoes without thanking "God". I felt trapped. My best friend asked me why I was lossing wait. I told her that god has done this and I needed help. She took me in and I found her books at first I was scared. then after reading a few I fell in love and have been happy and heathy ever since. I still haven't found the ONE yet but I'm digging very hard to find that gold string of life.
Belief: Leaning twoared Japenese pagan.... note Shinigami (god/ goddess of death.) I see it as the only real thing we can't come close to controling. No one can stop from dieing. money can't stop it science can't stop it. and I like knowing that when I "go home" I can see a face everyone else will see before getting in line and becoming a new.

Well i've been wiccan for a wile, not sure how long.
i converted because for the majority of my life christianity was shoved down my throat. then i realised there is no god and started questioning it. why would he hurt his childeren?why would he banish his children that he loves OH SO MUCH to a firey hell if they did something wrong? stuff like that. i was never inspired by the god idea. and it came to the point were i HATED christianity... then my best friend died... then i KNEW there was no christian god. i fell into a deep depression.

i was talking to one of my friends.... she WAS wiccan... d*mn christians...
anyway how she talked about being wiccan inspired me i read all the books i could i practiced i followed i read about gods and goddesses i memorised everything as if i was wiccan my entire life..
ever since ive been great my life has been 234179358% better and i would never convert to anything else for the world. :]

merry meet! i've been a witch for as long as i can remember, although i didn't really have a name for it until i was in my twenties. now i'm in my 30's, have 3 witchlets at home age 9, 12, 15 and we're very involved in the pagan community. i think its sad that your priest let you down, but i'm glad you're happy now. faith should be a choice, not something that you're born into and follow without question. we as pagans question things all the time because we are always on a quest for knowledge. its too bad that many groups don't understand us, to the point of thinking we're satanic lol because pagan groups do tremendous amounts of good in their communities. anyway, i'm pagan and proud and live in a small town in ontario.
blessed be

i do not realize what you're retaining right here. you want to stroll a Wiccan or pagan route? or you do not yet you're seeing indicators everywhere that are pointing you that way? fantastic of you to imagine the goddess in the course of the problematical circumstances and then ignore about her after she's helped you cope and guided you to bigger useful circumstances. It sounds like you're torturing your self right here expensive. you want to make certain what that's you easily want.
