Yes, there is. To be close to him we read the bible and pray. We know what his like from his deeds-found in the bible- and when we pray we should talk to him as if he was a friend. He can be your best friend and he never tells your secrets.

you BELIEVE you have an intimate relationship with Jesus and in a sense, you do, but it's an intimate relationship with your faith. Jesus is merely a symbol of that faith.
