In the first verse of the first book it starts like a work of fiction and it reinforces that time and time again throughout the whole story.

The bible said "only son" which was Ishmael to offer for sacrifice but instead it says "Isaac" even though the Bible gives the ages and Isaac wasn't even alive yet.

The Qur'an clarifies as Ishmael was the one offered for sacrifice.

"In the first verse of the first book it starts like a work of fiction and it reinforces that time and time again throughout the whole story."

"It starts like a work of fiction" is a point of view. It's your own personal taste. For many other people, it doesn't start like a work of fiction. Where is the justification? The Bible was supposedly written hundreds of years before the oldest fantasy novel you've read, anyway. Those novels created the "fiction style". And why does reinforcing time again and again have anything to do with contradicting statements in the Bible?

The Bible might have translation errors in some places, but the truth, the real meaning of the statement has never been changed. Different readings in how many chariots Solomon had might be considered a contradiction, but it has nothing to do with the essence of the Bible itself, since the Bible's central message is not a record of Solomon's horses.

First of all the Bible does not contradict itself! That's just like saying it corrected itself. 2 Timothy 3:16 So your saying God's wrong? Hmmm... OK! I wouldn't say that if I were you. If you do say it nothing isn't going to happen to you. First of all show me a contradiction. What verse or verses contradict each other? Have you every read the Bible yet? Hmmm... You might and better think that over again.

Of course there are contradictions in the Bible...even Jesus' geneaology doesn't match up..for krist's sake !!! Hmmm, "In the beginning God created...." To a believer, that says it all. To an atheist heathen, it's fiction.

For what it's worth, the Bible was preached very loosely, symbolically, obtusely and corruptedly for centuries; by the priests; who wanted a 'secret society' and to use scripture to scare the peasants and get them to provide wealth for the church. For example, Purgatory. is not explicated in the Bible...in medeval times however, there was a little jingle..(think proctor and gamble and soap operas) "every time the coin in the coffer rings; a soul from purgatory springs"...Ha!!!!

When the "protest" ants rose up to challenge the ways of the church...she had a re think and decided that the Bible was inerrant. The printing press was invented and lots more people could read what was there; a 'council' was held, a position was espoused; and they haven't bent from it. Then, the protest ants...got in on the act and have worked like the devil (pun intended) to perpetuate the inerrancy dogma. I hope this helps shed some light on this topic.

I've read the Bible in its' entirety 27 times so far...believe me...there are no contradictions. There are some things which appear to be contradictory, but they are the result of translational errors; cultural misunderstanding; and just plain ignorance and stupidity sometimes.
Those who are seeking contradictions, and who are not sincere in their study of the bible, can find plenty....but when you really study the Bible and delve deeply into it, you'll see that there are no contradictions, and that it even has something to say about such things as nuclear physics....things that were penned several thousand years ago, which man has only recently discovered for himself.
After 22 years of studying the Bible, I grow more in awe of it every time I read it, and I continue to learn new and awesome things!!
Neither are there contradictions between the Old and New Testaments. On the surface, some seem to exist, but they are the result of poor translation; doctrinal traditions of men and failure to understand the idioms of the original languages and their cultural context.
Never take anyones word for what the Bible says....read it yourself...study it like a textbook- search for answers...pray. Your life will be changed forever. The Bible has the answers for all of todays problems. But beware, I know of no organized group that follows the Bible in its' entirety...you must have that one-on-one relationship with God through His word.

"...the scripture can not be broken". -Jesus Christ- John 10:35

If a work of fiction tells us it speaks of truth, does truth become fiction? Or is it just very lousy fiction?

If fiction speaks of truth, does fiction contradict itself?

If I answer a question with only questions, do I really answer? Oh well, don't give me the 2 points, I didn't earn them.

The bible never contradicts itself. If you think it contradicts itself, then you just don't know how to understand it and are taking it out of context.

The Bible is riddled with literally thousands of contradictions--obviously it wasn't edited very well at all--those who claim it has no contradictions either haven't bothered to read it--or have the IQ of limp lettuce.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.

Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

The Bible is the true word of God. See 2 Timothy 3:16....

Try that first...

Also, think about all the prophecies you read. They all came ture or are coming true!

Hope that helps...
