I'm supposed to bring a cheese/sausage/cracker tray to an event. The bad thing is - my son has a game at 6:00 - it will last about a hour - then we have the event afterwards.
Will the food stay good in the car for 2 hours? If not, what should I do?
It's about 50 degrees where I live right now.

if you have a cooler you might put ice in it, put the cheese and meat in zip lock bags and put in cooler it will keep for the 2 hours and set up the try when you get to the party.

I wouldn't assemble the tray until you get to the event. Do all the prep work ahead - slice the cheese and sausage if that's how your going to present it. Leave the crackers in the box and just bring them along. If there is a fridge available somewhere (like at the location of the event), you could store it there beforehand. If not, pack a cooler in your car and keep the cheese and meats in there until you're ready to go. Once at the event, just arrange everything neatly on the tray and lay out the crackers. This should also prevent the crackers from getting soggy.

Good luck :)

even though it is only 50 degrees, the best thing to do it cut everything up ahead of time and place in baggies or air tight containers and place in a cooler with ice. when the game is over, wash your hands and assemble the tray. the time it takes from the game to the event should not harm the food, it will be ok to eat. but i would not try making it ahead of time unless you have a large enough cooler to hold your tray. good luck and have fun!

Put some frozen ice packs (plastic bags with ice cubes will also work) in a cooler and away you go.
If you have no cooler, put into a container such as tupperware.Place the ice in the bottom and overwrap your tray with newspaper. This will hold well.
Make sure you wrap your tray well with plastic wrap no matter which method you use.

I would say bag it and put on ice in a cooler and assemble when you get there?
