A cramp? It is full contraction of a muscle or group of muscle fibers.

The first thing to do is to put your hand on it (compression) and activate the opposite muscles (reciprocal inhibition) and slowly/gently stretch the cramp.

If it is in the arch of the foot, pull your toes to your nose. You want to stretch the cramp out and by contracting the antagonist (opposite muscle) you shut off the cramp.

If it is in your hamstrings (back of the thigh), stand up or straighten your leg.

You may suffer from these spasms if you are dehydrated, low electrolytes, overworked, sit or stand in unbalanced postures for extended periods.

See a massage therapist to help address cramps/ charlie horses/ spasms.

i know it's hard to do, but remember to flex your foot, point your toes out, then upward. it's not gonna help to stomp it out, or grab your calf.
