100% fact -- worms.

Take her to the vet to get dewormed, it is not that pricey and if you don't the worms can spread to you

I used to be a veterinary assistant - so I am answering from what I learned while in that position - all dogs have scent glands (anal glands) that are on either side of the rectum - when these get too full, the dog will drag its butt on the carpet to try to express some of the scent out in order to make it more comfortable for them. Ok, not a pretty answer, but accurate, nonetheless... If it has become a problem - take the dog to the vet and they can squeeze the glands between their fingers and help relieve the pressure the dog is feeling. I'm sure the visual image I've left you with is not the best either - just don't think about it before meal time...

Q: canines RUBS BUTT ON RUG My canines is starting up to rub her butt on the rug as if she is itching. She 6 year. and not in any respect did this earlier, is it a medical problem or undesirable habit? -W A: expensive W, that's certainly no longer a foul habit. There are 2 motives a canines does this: both clogged anal sacs (which i'm guessing this one is), or uncomfortable/runny poop. oftentimes a canines with diarhhea or maybe constipation may have some anal inflammation, that can itch (style of like hemorrhoids in human beings). If her poop is regularly occurring, that's totally likely to be clogged anal sacs, that's truly undemanding, particularly in center-elderly or older dogs. Anal sacs are little glands by ability of the anus which contain a musky, oily substance it truly is produced for marking and mating habit. that's that this substance that's the source of the "stink" that occurs at the same time as an intact male canines is mounting different dogs. As dogs become older, and particularly in the journey that they are spayed/neutered, that's uncomplicated for those glands to develop into clogged. that's uncomfortable and itchy, and exceedingly a lot always outcomes in the bum-rubbing habit you describe. oftentimes dogs will also lick the realm excessively. that's low-cost and speedy to have your veterinarian clean out her anal sacs, and that's some thing that your vet may have finished thousands of circumstances earlier. She shouldn't favor to be anesthetized for this technique, and it in undemanding words takes a pair of hours, if that. basically be satisfied you do not should be round at the same time as it occurs - the stink places skunks to shame!

I saw this happen. It usually means the glands on either side of thier anus are infected. I know this is a common problem, but she probably needs a vet. Dragging her butt on the ground is a way to relieve the irritation from the infection.

Need her anal glands checked! Happens often with dogs. The anal glands inside the rectum get "full" and need to be expressed. You local vet should be able to help you quickly and inexpensively as long as nothing is infected.

Also you should give a flea treatment like frontline just to be sure fleas aren't;t the problem.

My dog does that once in a while also, your dog is ok. I think all dogs drag their butts on the carpet as a way to scratch them or to clean them.

If your dog had fleas, you would be able to see them and they would be all over the dog.
The dog either has worms or needs the anal gland expressed. You didn's say how old the dog is , if its a puppy it probably has worms, either way take the dog to the vet.

My dog does it every morning if I don't take him out right after breakfast and he has has to go poop but after he goes poop he's fine. My cats sometimes do it before and after they have gone poop. Sometimes it's nothing more than opps, got up too quick and now I have some hanging (sorry, not a pretty picture) and have to get it off. Unlike us, they can't reach back there and scratch if this is the first time and it doesn't continue I wouldn't worry too much.

It could be worms or she might have to have her glands emptied. Honestly my Beagle/Lab mix does this ALL the time, and we've brought her to have both checked. The vet found nothing and suggested that she just might like it. This might be the case for you as well, but I would bring it up to your vet just in case.

if it's not a puppy then she'll need her anal glands expressed.

you could do if once you learn how to do it but it's a really smelly job!

dogs have sacks on the inside of there butt and it fills with fluid and needs to be expressed sometimes. with most dogs the anal glands get expressed when they poop

LOL i let my vet do it!

There is a gland back there that gets blocked. A dog will try and aleviate it by dragging on the carpet. Take her to the groomer and they will take care of it.
