what to do so that PC doesnt even consume much electricity and i keep running a process too>>?

Question

i download movies over night. should i "log-off" or keep my pc on "stand by" all that while, but the movie should keep downloading.

Last time i left it on(normal working mode)..it turned off automatically after 2-3 hours..

i ofcourse switch off the monitor..what else?so even if i cant save electricity...just suggest me what to do, so that pc doesnt get off on its own..and keeps running until i dont turn it off on my own

off the pge website, they claim that a 1600 watt hairdryer consumes more electricity running for 15 min than a computer left on for 8 hours.hmm...

For a long download, you need to make sure your power saving setting don't turn off the HD after a certain amount of time... Check your settings: right click on your desktop and select properties. Click on the screen saver tab. Click on the power button near the bottom. Adjust your settings to give you the time you need.
