and my arms and hands went bright red and extremely itchy, when i came home i had a sugary drink and was ok, i have never experienced anything like it before, any ideas what it was?

I'm going to go with one of two things. An allergic reaction to the ink used, or an absolutely coinsidental (sp) low sugar spell.

this happened to me when i got my tatoo done yrs ago..the tatoo took 4hrs to do and because i was sitting in the same position for so long and the tatoo parlor was so warm..when i went outside i started shaking!!its true to say this was a mild case of shock and a coincidental drop in blood sugar.nothing to worry bout id imagine

definitely sounds like an allergic reaction - keep some benadryl on hand for any future episodes like that and next time, see a doctor when that happens! xoxo

slight drop in blood sugar/loss of a bit of blood coupled with a bit of shock - was it warm in the parlour?

it might have been that you were in shock, or at the very worst diabetic!

Sounds like septicaemia to me mate.
I'd go the doc's if i was you.
Needles aren't something you should be blase about.
