They lived for thousands of years in harmony with the planet. Their religion is based on the circle, and not linear thinking like Christianity.
Christians persecuted, and actually committed genocide against a race of people. Is this a Christian nation? No, we are a nation of diversity, but Christians have a problem with that thought. Equality, liberty freedom are not Christian based-just read the bible.
Let my government lead me-and not the bible.

Religion is a personal thing, however, during the formation of the various countries in Europe and the old world in general, it was forced upon the people by the ruling authority. Is not that what Islam is trying to do? But, the american native americans believed in the great spirit, which is very similar to the invisiable God, believed by most of the current large religions. They also believed in nature and to take from it only what was needed. They respected nature and felt they were part of it; all of which was controlled by their great spirt. So, in a sense you could say they were right. They are just a right as anyone else or any other religion, as religion is taught, it is handed down, and sometimes forced down to the people. I don't think having faith in something is wrong, no matter what religion you may believe that is the only one. God looks over us all and to reach him, he will not penalize anyone or many, that may have not have had the opportunity to associate a choice of any other religion; such as Christian or Muslem, or for that matter any religion. They will reach heaven because they believe in the same basic good that all men should believe in. It is great for those that have the knowledge and understanding of Jesus and others that believe in other type of pathways to heaven, but in the end all good people will be in God's fold.

Native Americans ( people born in America ) follow just about all religions. No one can say one religion is right and the others wrong.

any "native" culture has had the right idea from the get go.
If it worked for centuries, why do "some" think it needs to be fixed?
My grandfather was one of those poor native children that were "taken" off the reservation and forced into the "Christian" society.
Our family will never know if our last name was his "given" Christianized name or where it came from. Sadly, that is part of my own heritage that has been stolen from me.

Black Elk stood on the highest mountain and related what he saw. He talked of the hoop[circle], we are all related. Religion separates, truth unites, Jesus called God Alaha in his native tongue and that translated means Sacred Unity, they were the same those two. Everyone must see this for themselves or all they have are "beliefs" and there is no truth in there lives, they will rot in the ground and become food for higher "beings".

They may, indeed.

They valued children, old, lame.

They worshiped the forces of nature, wind, rain, heat, sun.

I can't fault them much. Most of them were quite nice, it was only a few terrorists who gave white men problems.

The first Pilgrims survived because of them!

And today they have TAX free booze and smokes and let 18 year olds gamble.

Seem like cool people to me!

I never heard them say an ill word about Jesus or God!

Then a lot of us are really cooked. I am so confused about so many religions claiming to be the "only" one ( how can they all be ? ) and about other "strange" religions( the mormons are a cult ). I myself do not know what to do.

You fail to realize that Native Americans are not one class of people nor do they follow one religion.

They are various tribes with different Gods, traditions and belief systems.

Sorry, there is only one God. Not some random animal gods that you made up because they do cool things like fly.

As Homer Simpson said, "What if we picked the wrong religion? Every week we're making God madder and madder."
