Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knows what this is ... I have had (for about 3 days now) a chest pain, that only hurts when I lay on my back, or left side, and I have a cough that comes occasionaly during the day, and I wake up in the middle of the night, (about 5:00) then when I wake up in the morning (about 8:00) I get out of bed, and my leg muscles are really sore, but then about 1 hr or 2 later, there not anymore, then I aslo have a hard nipple, (only my left one, the right one is not) Im more then normally tired during the day, my eyes hurt... hard to keep them open: My mom says its probally just the flu, and I asked her to take me to the doctor but she wont cause she says its just cause of the flu or something

You realize that without a hands-on exam, we can only make a guess here. My guess would be that you have pleurodynia caused by an enterovirus. This would be more likely if you lived in a warm climate and there were other similar cases in your school. It's still cold where I live, and pleurodynia visits us every third or fourth summer and fall.

Symptoms usually subside in a week or so. Complications in persons your age are uncommon.

The hard nipple is usually a sign of puberty. Don't try to squeeze it. It may take several months to disappear.

Your fatigue may be from your infection. Many teens stay awake at night playing with computers, texting friends, etc. Listen to your mom and go to bed. If you're not better in a few days, she will take you to the doctor.

I'm sorry you had to go through all the drama, because you are right that you should definitely see a doctor and not just take someone's antibiotics. A temperature of 101.5 is not very high, and that could indicate a viral infection, which cannot be helped by antibiotics. Besides, antibiotics should not be treated so cavalierly as your aunt is doing. If she has them, *someone else* should have already taken them, each and every one, because you should never stop taking antibiotics just because you are feeling better -- that's how drug-resistant super-bugs evolve. Also different antibiotics fight different bacteria. That being said, the bottom line is your mother did agree to the right thing, however gracelessly. Please don't take her foot-dragging so personally. You cannot imagine the crushing fear that comes with being a (single?) parent with no health insurance. Even a lowered price is going to give your family budget a relatively huge hit. It's usually the unplanned or unforeseeable expense that wreaks havoc. Your mom was just having trouble accepting the inevitable; and we don't always say the most admirable things at such times :-). Hope you are better soon!

Does not sound like the flu. A mother who will not take her child to the doctor for legitimate complaints is guilty of child abuse. Call a relative or speak to the nurse at your school about your mother's refusal to get you help.
