depends what your best friend did.
did your best friend betray your trust because he was trying to keep you from making a huge mistake? if so, then your best friend really cares about you. you should forgive him.
if your best friend betrayed you because he has a big mouth or was trying to cause trouble...he is not your best friend.
I wouldn't kick his a**.......he isn't worth it.
I would distance myself from him and find someone else to hang around.

Been there. My best friend in High School slept around with my girl. They both ceased to exist in my life.
I've only talked to him once since, and that was to introduce my wife. I never would have started dating her if he hadn't gotten involved in my previous relationship.
So I guess I owe him in a way...
