I know thats an unusual thing for a woman to say. But I have been skinny all of my life. I'm 5'11" and my target weight is 155. I have only seen 155 when I was pregnant with my children. I want to have that Tyra Banks thickness...I think she looks better now than she did when she was modeling. Can someone please offer some suggestions on medicines, what to eat, anything.

Obviously, those others have never been in a similiar situation. When I was younger, I use to be so skinny that you could easily count all my ribs. This is what I have learned through personal experiance:

If you eat junk food, like some people may suggest, you will end up getting high cholesterol, as well as some other health problems (which you so do not want). What you should do, though, is eat normal food (not fast food or pizza) but, more often. I would always keep fat free candy ( like York peppermint patties) & other healthy snacks on hand at all times. Keep some in your car or at work & just snack on them throughout the day. If you are sitting at home watching tv, or, on the computer, I would do the same thing.......snack on healthy foods. Before you know it, you will have eating more calories than you normally would have and would not really have noticed/forced yourself to. Once you put on alittle bit of weight you will want to start doing some weight training. Muscle weights more than fat. You don't want to over-do yourself , though , with the weights, unless you want to look like a body builder. If you start of lightly, you will start to see some definition in your arms & legs.

Oh, I actually had tried all that weight gainer stuff at GNC (like the "Weight Gainer 2000") & it didn't work. It's tailored to those who want to gain muscles , so, unless you want to look like a body builder, it's not going to do much.

That's an excellent target weight for a slim, healthy figure. It puts your BMI at 21.6, which is just right. It's a breath of fresh air to see someone on this site asking how to gain weight sensibly rather than repeated requests for fast weight loss! You need to eat more, but in a balanced way (i.e., add protein and carbs), but you also need to exercise so as to add some muscle bulk. Don't worry, you won't look like Arlene Shwartzenegger. Weight and strength training and isometrics will be the way to go. Do these things and you will become a very fit, healthy (and healthy-looking) young lady. It will take time, so be patient. Don't expect to gain more than one or two pounds a week.

At GNC is a product called "Weight Gainer" and its what body builders use to gain weight. Believe me, it works! I used to do road construction and I just couldn't eat enough calories. So, I bought the basic tub of Weight Gainer 800 and I was still able to do my work without losing strength in the afternoon (like I had before I took it). I didn't really need to gain weight as I needed the quick and easy high calorie shake to keep me going in the hot sun.
There are other things out there, too, that give you quick energy with a long burn time. You just have to look around.
I know you want that "thick" look, but you may have to wait until your metabolism slows down.
And don't listen to these clowns who say that you should eat donuts just before going to bed. That's just plain stupid.
Good luck.

I think the first thing you should do is make a list of everything you eat over a week and figure out how many calories you have taken in. If it's a question of too few calories, you could always just add a couple of protein shakes a day

Eat lots of carbs, don't try and put on weight with unhealthy snacks like choccy that isn't good! Have more wholesome foods like lots of brown bread, cheese, milk, etc. Or you could just try going to the gym to build up muscle and that will make you bigger but in a more healthy way. Don't sacrifice your exercise and health for a fuller figure, plus that might just be the way you are always going to be built, so embrace it!

I used something called formula one shake three times a day with my meals and it was great. I put on 17 pounds in six months all through nutrition and protein and the weight is even. try www.myhealthabcmall.com, the stuff tastes great and it works really well. I had been trying to put weight on for years. It has also improved my health overall with the protein and minerals it contains. Good luck.

Unless you are thin because you under eat, are bulimic or anorexic, don't fret over it. Eat healthy and let nature take its course. It is better to be underweight than overweight when it comes to your health. When you get older, you'll most likely gain weight as your metabolism slows down. Exercise and eat healthy. You are fortunate to have the "problem" you have. Most people are on the other side of the problem, believe me.

Snack a lot but on healthy stuff though like nuts, raisins, bananas, lots of dairy made with whole milk. Up your carb intake.
Pick up weight a healthy way not with a ton of sugar and fat that will lead to health problems.

Sure its easy. Snack when you watch TV, have seconds on mashed potatoes, eat when you're not hungry, raid the cookie jar three times a day, take the elevator instead of the stairs. Works for me!

Gee, all of us should have your weight problem!
