i started dieting about 4 or 5 days ago and refuse to weigh myself for the simple fact that every other time i have dieted i would weigh myself every day and because i wasnt noticeing fast results i would simply just get mad and then give up!!!!! not only that i HATE reminding myself how much i weigh!!!! ive gained 30 pds since last summer now i am trying to lose it!!

scales can be either REALLY encouraging, or REALLY discouraging.

if your making progress, than you will see it on the scale, and be encouraged to keep going.
vice versa, if your not going well, than you'll give up like you said.

at only 4-5 days into this diet, i would definitely hold off. give it 3-4 weeks of unbiased, no looking at scale, dieting. This will keep you working hard, in hopes that when that day comes, you really have been accomplishing something.

it's different for different people. some weigh every day, some every week, and some every month. it's less discouraging for me to weigh once a week or so. just do what works for you. also, take measurements. you might not be losing pounds, but you could be losing inches. take note of how your clothes fit.
