The 6000-year old earth theory pretty much requires completely ignoring modern geology, biology, and physics. Any defense of that theory is purely Biblical.

They are not alternative scientific theories, so there's no point in presenting them together.
Science is based on facts of observable evidence and is subject to ongoing revision. When evidence contradicts a scientific theory, the theory gets trashed.
Creationism is based on the assumption that the words of a book must remain unchanged by discovered facts, and cannot be wrong and must not be amended. Thus, young-earth claims are religious, not scientific.

Sure!
What does geology teach us. That stratified rock is found all over the earth. How did it get there? It was laid down by water. What water? The flood 4,300 years ago.
Clam fossils are found at tremendous altitudes, like at the summit of Mt. Everest. Clams live in water. How did they get there? What water? The flood 4,300 years ago.
The moon is getting farther from the earth by a factor of about 4 inches a year. 6,000 years ago it wouldn't have made much of a difference, but if you calculate it back 25 million years, the continents would have been overcome by a tidal wave . . . twice a day the moon would have been so close.
I know what happened to the dinosaurs . . . they got mooned!
Ever heard of palonium halos in rock? They resulted from electrons flinging out of a radioactive particle for a fraction of a second and were captured mid flick in solid rock. What does that tell us? That the rock was formed instantaneously, not from a molton mass 4.6 billion years ago.
Did you know that if you melt down granite and then cool it again it doesn't re-form into granite? So what you might ask. Well, that means it didn't come from molton rock. It was cold-formed.
There are numerous references to dinosaurs throughout history. They lived alongside people on about every continent on earth. Oh, the word dinosaur was invented in 1841. Prior to that they were called dragons.
Did you know that ALL genetic mutations involve chromosomal information already extant in the DNA strand? No new information is ever added. For those unable to draw a conclusion from this, this means that one kind of animal cannot become another kind of animal because no new information is ever added to the DNA code. Micro-mutation (the only observed aspect of evolution) is nothing more than a quality-control mechanism, not an "evolutionary" mechanism that will result in a "higher life-form". It makes rabbits good rabbits, and turtles good turtles, but it won't make an alligator into a bird or a petunia into a lobster.
Did you know the earth's magnetic field is declining at a rate of about 5% every hundred years? All magnets lose their magnetism. If the earth were "billions of years old" why does it still have a magnetic field?
The sun is burning. If you don't believe me, go outside and look. It's losing material at a phenominal rate involving tons every second. If the earth is "billions of years old" why hasn't the sun burned out by now?

i just look at it like theres alot of unknown factors ... the bible basically says that the current ecosystem was created in 6 days ... the only reference to the creation of the universe is "in the beginning" and i dont think it necessarily means that the beggining was part of the 6 day creation ...

If they could don't you think that there would be some sort of scientific journal on it and not merely the odd book by people who want to publish their version of the truth bypassing the scientific community?

are you limiting God saying He can only create something that is brand new? - that He can't make something with age?
- i think of it this way, when he created adam, adam wasn't a baby - but a man. a fully grown man - because once He created eve, who was also created fully grown, He told them to go and multiply. God created adam and eve as adults - whose not to say when He created the earth, He did it with age ?

I can't, but a great, atheist philosopher named Bertrand Russell could. I suggest you have a look at his writings.
