Could be due to lack of oxygen during sleep, like with sleep apnea. You should consider this if you dont sleep well, you snore, and you are tired throughout the day. Or it might just be severe dehydration.

A migraine. I've had them on & off for years...& yes, I HAVE been roused from a deep, sound sleep by the pain many, many times. That actually presents another problem, also, since I need to take my migraine meds at the FIRST sign of pain...when it wakes me up like that, it's much much too late since the pain's already fully developed, so the meds don't work. The last time that happened, I had the friggin' thing for 3 days straight. It was absolutely awful.

First I learned after my hysterectomy that my life of Migraines were HORMONE HEADACHES. So does this happen near your periods?
I keep asparcreme next to the bed to rub on my forehead and my neck at night when this happens. It helps enormously.
Is your pillow too thick? That will give me a horrible headache.
Does your heat or air condition blow on your bed at night? The air movement makes my head hurt.
I wear a wide knit head band for a sleep mask at night to keep my sinuses warm. I started doing this 7 years ago and now cannot sleep (comfortably) without it. That stopped a lot of the headaches.
Well I think this is all of my suggestions. Hopefully one of them will be helpful. It is horrible to have your night ruined from a severe headache. I also keep water and Excedrin next to the bed. That is the first thing I do but it does take a little while.

The most common cause of waking with a severe headache is... grinding or clenching teeth.
Go to see your dentist and get fitted for a teeth separator to wear at night. It will will really help. The dentist will be a big help. (A dentist will also check you for TMJ.) If you can't afford a dentist... You can also find something like this at some pharmacies.
Another (less likely) cause could be allergies. Make sure to keep your room dust free. Keep the sheets freshly washed. And sleep with the window open.

If you wake up every morning with a headache, you may be grinding your teeth while you sleep. It's not a big deal, but you can do damge to your teeth that way. Ask your doctor or dentist to check your teeth. You can also do an overnight sleep study at a hospital, where they monitor your movement and breathing. That would rule out things like breathing problems.

you may want to be tested for sleep apena. My hubby has this. You stop breathing during the night. It can cause blood pressure problem and one of the symptoms is a morning headache. Try to find a nearby sleep clinic. You will have to go there and sleep one night while they test you.

Sometimes if I go off Caffiene I'll wake up with one.
Make sure it's not carbon monoxide. Is the pilot light in your furnace and/or water heater blue like it should be? Got a kerosine heater, neighbor's vehicle exhaust blowing at your bedroom window? If in doubt you could get a detector.

Ow! It sounds like there might be something going on with your blood pressure.
I don't mean to cry wolf- but have you been checked for tumors? One of my nephews had health problems all of his little life, but no one could figure out what was really wrong until an x-ray tech spotted a shadow out of place. Which proved to be a sizable tumor.
Keep trying. And meanwhile, see a pain specialist.

i get that a lot- try a firmer mattress or different pillow- the way you are sleeping could be constricting blood flow and try to relax before bed. also keep air circulating, when it is stuffy my head tends to hurt more.
