I heard that it meant my love. Is there anything that resembles what I said that has that definition?

mija is short for mi hija which means my daughter......

in the spanish culture they do call their wife or daughter or girlfriend mija.....it might not really mean my love but they do use it in that context

LOL... is not MIJA is Mi Hija which means my daughter... some people use it bad in Spanish and say it together but is not right.

It´s a saying. Comes from "Mi hija" which means "My daughter". But very a unformal speaking is this other way: "M'ija", it is, like you said, a loving way to call a daughter but actually you can call M'ija even your female friends or your girlfriend.

You probably mean "Mi hija" = my daughter.
MI hijo = my son
