Many, many of them do. Many, many of them do not. You can't generalize on this one. Christian means you believe in Jesus the Christ was the son of God and died on the cross to save you from your sins. I don't believe it is meant to be defined as Christ like.

Well,
there is something to be said for knowing that unless you have faith that Jesus Christ is your saviour, there is now way for you EVER to know God.
Here is John 14:6 -
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..."
I guess knowing God gives Christians an air of confidence in their place in the afterlife. It's unfortunate how some of them ruin their own image by turning that into an air of superiority or arrogance, even in the face of their own horrible behaviour ***CLICHE ALERT*** - especially The Crusades...
It says in Matthew 7:1 (as I'm sure you've heard many times before):
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
AND, in Luke 6:37, a slightly different version of that is:
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
So I wouldn't worry about Christians that put themselves on a pedestal. Either they're right or they're wrong about the Salvation of the world.
If they're wrong, then it doesn't matter.
If they're right, then by the writings and teachings of Jesus Christ, they will be judged unfavorably by their own God at the Time Of Reckoning, showing them after it's already too late for them just how wrong they were.

In order to be Christ-like one has to transcend the culture. This does not make a person greater than another, since we were all created equal, as our forefathers have said based on a Christ-gifted and God-centered tradition. But it does demand from us a moral requirement to sacrifice and to live out the commandments which God gave to us. This enables us to live a life that is solvent, considered, dependable and responsible, sober and reverent.

No, it means that we *should* be more Christ-like. We have the same struggles and foibles that others have, but we recognize that we are called to the same standard as our Lord and Savior. If the thought of what we are versus what He suffered so we could be like Him doesn't keep us from pride, then nothing's going to.
And as my mom used to say, "Never let anyone put you on a pedestal. The wind blows up your skirts and everyone can see your underwear."

No, we aren't. In fact, Christians believe that they are sinners and that the only way to heaven is through Christ. We admit that we have done many wrongs, and that we all deserve to go to hell. But there is something different between knowing you're a sinner an repenting; sinners that don't believe still go to hell, but Christians are rewarded by God in heaven. We are all sinners. Live with it.

LOL! No, I'm much less than average, and pedestals are hard to stand on. I'm just doing the best I can. I TRY to be Christ like, but it's impossible to do. I'm not perfect and never will be. (the sin thing)

i am a christian, i dont think that it means we think we are better than anyone else...although I'm not going to say there aren't people like that....being a Christian does mean Christ like but no one can be perfect...that is what christ is...he is perfect, i think that through Christ all things are possible but looking down on people is not something Christians should be doing...if they see someone and feel a burden for that person they should be friendly to that person and pray for them.

I'm a Christian. I don't see myself standing on a pedestal... I don't consider myself better than anyone else.

Yes and No...
Yes we are something greater than average because we try to live our life to the best of our ability (despite the fact we were born in sin).
No, we are humble before our maker and his word - which states that we are to avoid being boastful.

they'll tell you being a Christian means following Christ. Then why are so many christians like you said - sitting on their high horse judging the first person to glance at them wrong?
