In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to God, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
Master of the Day of Judgment.
Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
Show us the straight way,
The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

For those of you who don't know, this is the Fatiha, or the Opening. It is the first Sura in the Qur'an and is used as the opening to all Salaat (prayers).

It really truly honestly depends on what it is for is it for a presentation or something your going to say daily? If your trying to impress someone by it then it isn't exactly you talking to God and that is the point of a prayer just pray from your heart pray what you feel and pray what you mean and it will be great!

I take advantage of this surah and don't really appreciate it's meaning.
Muslims pray 5 times a day and say this surah at least 17 times a day.
As for memorization, there is no other religion in the world that has millions of people who have memorized their holy scripture. 99.999999% of all muslims have at least one chapter memorized in arabic.
But this is only prostelyization prayer. We also make supplication/du'a which is what christians would see as prayer. Then there is also dhikr aka tasbee which Catholics copied in rosary.
Muslims have so many outlets to pray it's so awesome

It sounds a little on the pompous side. There's a verse in the Bible that speaks of how we are not supposed to be like the man who prays on the street corner so everyone can hear. I unfortunately do not know where it's located. I think using big words like that makes you sound arrogant. Prayers should be heartfelt, not forced and memorized.

This is beautiful prayer. It is poetic and accurate.
I feel that it needs to be more personal. If you are looking for a relationship with God, I feel you need to be specific.
I always like to think how would I feel if my child spoke to me in such a way. Wouldn't God our father wanted to be treated as a father?

Nice
but you need to do MORE than pray or meditate
Here's the Solution:
Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

It is Surah Al Fatihah, and it is the best. May the peace and blessings of Allah Swt be on you and the Prophet Muhammad.

And to go with this, i prefer:
1. Say (O Muhammad صÙ٠اÙÙ٠عÙÙÙ ÙسÙÙ
): "He is Allâh, (the) One.
2. "Allâh-us-Samad (اÙسÙد اÙØ°Ù ÙصÙ
د Ø¥ÙÙÙ Ù٠اÙØاجات) [Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)].
3. "He begets not, nor was He begotten.
4. "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."

I think it's lovely. It's a Muslim prayer, right? I think many prayers are nice, regardless which religion they come from. If you find strength in them, even better.

I think that by posing it as a question, it is a clever way to make someone say a prayer that they would not normally say.
