I've had her about 2 weeks now. She is one yr old. She loves to play outside, but when she does, it really makes her stink. But since she is an indoor dog, I cant have my house smelling bad. Is it ok to bathe once a week?

if she really stinks i think once a week is ok, just make sure you use a really gentle shampoo. they make oatmeal ones that are gentle. otherwise her skin might dry out. you could also get baby wipes to give her a fake "bath" and maybe only really bathe once every 2 weeks or so.

Once a week seems like too much. Dog have natural oils in their skin that are stripped when bathed too frequently it can also dry out their skin. I have a jack russell who is always out playing and has white fur and I dont give her a bath more than 1 bath every 2 months or so---or if she is extremely muddy. Only give a bath when a dog really, really needs it.

Once a week is probably the limit of what I'd bathe a chihuahua. If you feel she needs more frequent bathing, use wipes. My chihuahuas don't even get bathed that much. I bathe mine probably every 3 months (with no problems about smell).

Mine get to the groomer once a month, they also clean out their anal glands when they get a bath. If they aren't emptied out regularly they can get infected...just a heads up! I would also bathe every other week if you need to, every week could cause dry skin for your Chi :)

until your domestic dog is getting rather muddy, grimy or stinky, bathing him as quickly as a month is many times adequate, it rather is nice for it to be much less many times than that even. Bathing him too plenty might reason dry epidermis and that ultimately leads to inflammation and problems. it is suited to no longer bathe youthful, small breed domestic dogs to any extent further usually than you will possibly be able to desire to, they are able to get chilled actual. you will locate guidance and suggestion on bathing your domestic dog on the url under.
