For 2 months I was on Effexor XR, lots of side effects and didn't work well, switched to Celexa 20mg a day. Yea it might be working for the depression but not the panic attacks like im having right now, so should I call my doc up right now and ask for somethingelse to be presribed along with the celexa when these panic attacks do arrise which are not everyday.
ill give you my symptoms,
Racing thoughts, mostly negative thoughts, so i just try to sleep even though its noon, being awake just makes the thoughts more aware.
increased heart rate
restless legs
what do i need, xanax or somthing or something in the benzoedyeazeehpeens class.

I didn't take another one, I went to the gym and took my mind away from all those thoughts.
Talked to my Dr, and she made a rx for xanax and Ativan to try them both to see which works best.

I used to take Celexa but have switched to Lexpro (started out at 10 mg per day, up to 15 mg per day after 4 years). Lexapro works much better for me than Celexa.
Additionally I take a very small dose of Xanax for panic attacks and sometimes for sleep.
This combo has worked very well for me. Good luck!

you should go see a therapist at least once a week. medications will only put a band aid on your problem. a psychologist will be able to help you control your attacks, it may take a few months but therapy has a much more long term effect. they will be able to find the source of your problem and teach you breathing exorcises and ways to avoid an attack as it begins. most panic attacks are brought on by your own mind, if you think you will panic then you will perpetuate that and fall into a full blown anxiety attack. xanax is only a bigger band aid that causes addiction. i would recommend Prozac. BUT i am not your doctor and i dont know you exact situation. if you have been seeing a family physician for your problem stop. make an appointment with a licensed psychologist for therapy. he or she will counsel you and get appropriate RX from a trusted psychiatrist. i hope i could help, good luck with everything.

Taking another Celexa will not help you feel better immediately and you should NOT do it without consulting your doctor first. You need to have a serious discussion with your doctor about these panic attacks because there are many treatments available to help control them. Yes, Xanax may help, but only your doctor knows for sure what your medical history is and what is safest for you. I know you are not in a good frame of mind right now, but you need to be rational and not do anything that may hurt you, like taking more medication. Call your doctor NOW.

If you are having panic attacks then you need something other than an anti-depressant. I once had them and now I take Xanax. But be careful. If you drink while taking then you could easily die and that goes for all the benzos. They are also way addictive. Be careful but don't suffer. There are four good benzos and I've been on all of the. I recomend Xanax.

Celexa didn't help me much, I switched to Lexapro and take xanax when needed. Don't take another Celexa, it won't help, could hurt. Different people respond differently to anti-depressants. What's right for me, might not be right for you. You need to see your Doctor as soon as you can to get the appropriate help for you.
