He's a small silky terrier, 10lbs, 8yrs old. It's been two days now that he's been really grumpy. He's eating, using the washroom, but not very active. He doesn't want to be around anyone, he whines when we try to carry or even pet him. Especially when we touch him around the stomach area. I think he might have ate something we didn't see and he's having trouble digesting it. He has a habit of swallowing food instead of chewing. He also tends to shiver when he stands still. It's not cold- kinda looks like he's trying to not put to much weight down. I dont know =/ What could be wrong with him? I'm going to wait two more days before taking him to the vet, this has happened to him before and he turned out fine.. I'm just worried!

Could be may things, but only an exam can give you an accurate answer. If he is lethargic, don't wait 2 days, take him by tomorrow if he doesn't improve.

There are many things this can be.One ,he could have eaten rocks and if this is so they may have gotten caught in the intestine and this is major where the vet will have to do surgery to remove them.
Second could be a pinched nerve where if he is standing and not wanting to put a foot down completely or even occasional limping he may have pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve and this would cause him to not move until the pressure of the pain relieves it self.
I had a mixed dog that had terrier in her and she had a pinched nerve in her hip and when it would spring up she would stand like she was frozen and shake/shiver like you described. It would just happen out of no where .She also would loose her apetite and energy level.I always had to take her to the vet and they gave her an injection and some pills and within minutes of the shot she was fine.If yours persists for more than a day or two I would take him to the vet to to make sure what it is .

My dog has had a tennisball stuck in his intestine. While those days were happening, he did not eat and did not go to the bath room so that is out of the story. But it mite be a tiny obstruction so I would take him to the vet just to make sure though. I'm very sorry to hear about that. Just take it easy with him and make him as comfortable as possible. But take him to the vet ASAP!!!! Good luck and hope everything goes well!

what do you mean this has happened before??

It sounds like tummy trouble. I'd take him to the vet yesterday. He could have an obstruction. A dog that whines when carried or petted is in PAIN. Please go to the vet!!

Do not wait get your dog to the vet straight away, I would if it were my dog. He could get alot worse in 2 days and you would regret it if anything happened to him. I do hope it's nothing too serious good luck.

Has your terrier been drinking alot of water and wanting to go for walks more so he can go pee alot? You should take him to the vets, it sounds like he has the same symptoms as my puppy and it turns out my puppy has diabates.
