my dependent made $2000 gross last year and tax deduct $980 already. when i claim he as my dependent, how much i could deduct from my tax?

You would get a $3,300 deduction for the dependent exemption.

Your dependent should also file his own tax return and report his income. He will most likely be entitled to get a refund of his taxes withheld.

I'm not sure just what you mean about "tax deduct $980 already".

When you claim a dependent, you get an exemption of $3300 for them. That amount is subtracted from your income before you figure their taxes.
