You really don't need to give dogs baths very often unless they are dirty. Some people do it like every other week which is way too much. I have a terrier and only give her a bath if she really needs it after being in mud or something. You should be able to do it yourself without any problems...just do it in the sink with warm water. I wouldnt spend the money at the groomer unless you need nails clipped or actually grooming/trimming.

I started my dog at the groomer when she was about 5 months old and she is almost 3 years old now. She weighed about 3 pounds also. If you decide to bathe her yourself just make sure that you use a puppy shampoo.

You may give her a bath. Make sure the water isn't too hot, don't use human shampoo, purchase a gentle PET shampoo. Don't bath her more than once every month or two or you can dry her skin out too much.
It may be less scary for her if you do it versus the groomer unless you know someone you can trust.

put a good 6 inches of warm water in the bath and wash him. he'll be okay and the shock will be beacuse its new to them.
dont go groomers on their first bath as they need to be comfortable with the owner bathing them before someone else. just rub shampoo onto the back and underneath leaving the face dry.
when drying them, make sure you get underneath properyl too as dogs can catch colds very quickyl.
dont worry about bathing them at this stage, they are okay but will react to it first time- prob second.
dogs are to be bathed about 4 times a year, anymore you are ruining their coat

If she needs a bath, there's no need to wait. Both of my puppies were silly and rambunctious and constantly getting themselves messy, so they started getting baths at 8 weeks. Just make sure the water is a comfortable temperature and use a puppy shampoo, which will be gentle on her skin and eyes. You'll do just fine.

She can totally go to the groomer. She's not too small nor too young to wash. She probably needs a bath! Take her in and they'll do it all for you. They're used to working with little dogs. They'll trim her nails and clean her ears too.
She'll come back smelling great and she'll be happier too.

Unless she's gotten dirty and smells bad, it's not really necessary to give her a bath. I've always heard that it's better for a dog's overall health if you only wash them when it's really needed. If you do wash her, use a very mild dog shampoo and make sure to dry her off really well so she doesn't get sick.

Use shampoo formulated for Puppies! Some regular "Dog" shampoos are a little harsh on their skin.

as long as you use a gentle-mild soap she should be fine. I use diluted dishwater dawn soap. Yes - I know it's advertised for dishes - but it is a great flea killer and deterrent as well. And it is safe. The most important thing on washing dogs is that you do not want to do often because it strips their natural oils off of their skin and subjects them to skin and other problems. Anything bio-degradable is okay and safe to use. It breaks down easily and is safe for the environment too.

she should be ready to bathe. you should probably wash her in the sink though so you can have better control as opposed to bending over the bath tub. when bathing her try not to get soap or water in her eyes and ears. this can cause an infection and make her fearful of bathing.
