i dont see what the appeal of the atkins diet is. the man that invented it is now dead, and the autopsy reported that he was in terrible health condition.

the USDA and pretty much all RDI measurements state that to be healthy, you need about 60% of your calories to come from carbs, 40% at the least. y doesnt this register with people?

when you stop the carbs from coming into your body, you start making something called ketones. Basically these numb you to your lack of energy and try to make up for the lack of carbs, but ultimately lead to headaches, weakness, and zero energy.

y cant people just eat moderately? cut down on fat first, sugar second, then maybe a little carbs.

i just dont see the appeal of this diet. its just not healthy.

we just talked about that in wellness(college) and your body goes into ketosis and it messes your body up. I was never a fan of Atkins but after learning that I know I'll never try it. Who wants to go on a diet that's going to make you sick?

i would think after his death the company was hit with a blow, however now they sell atkins food and shakes so that is keeping them thriving. personally i think it's unhealthy. i just cut back on servings, because portions was my problem. sticking to that timeless pyramid food chart is what works for me and my kids! hands down! good luck to all the dieters!

It impresses people because, if done "properly", you lose weight very fast after starting. They don't think about what comes afterwards.
