How do you get over the past of a hurtful relationship, and start over with that person?

You know this is a very good question. How does someone start over with someone knowing that the past wasn't a pleasant one? I imagine that you both agreed that this is the right thing to do to make a go at the relationship one more time. Well, all I can say is that don't make the same mistake twice. Try to let him lead. Develop more respect in the relationship. I feel that it's the respect that is lacking that cause two people to drift apart. Play hard to get sometimes and let him to some chasing. Make him yearn after you and think about how wonderful it is to have you as a lover and a friend. Do things with other people and don't appear to be too desperate with him. If he says you two should hang out with friends, perhaps say that you have something else planned and that you will have to take a raincheck. Watch and see. This works. Good luck to you.

Same person from a hurtful relationship? OK maybe you guys should try discuss about the past, once you guys feel comfort to talk about it, means you guys can go ahead to start over. If you guys hold it down and start over, trust me, you will get second hurtful relationship. Always share information each other to feel confident on this.

This is not something that is easy to get past, but I'm in this sort of relationship now. You just have to put the past behind you and go forward. There has to be trust there before the 2 of u can do anything. I know this sounds easier said than done, but it's the only way.

I am going threw that..

I can't understand y someone that promised me he would never hurt me brake his promise.

I see he now and then CZ we have a child together, but he is not the man I fell head over heals for. He always tell me he loves me. When he says that I feel like he is slapping me in the face. I could not start over with this person. He has done so much to me. He is dating some woman he met in my space. The funny thing is He started 1 month after we broke up. He could n't wait 6 months. But He LOVES ME!!!!!

That might be hard to do, because I feel like if he does something to make you mad; you might bring up the past. You guys just need to sit down and talk to each other; and forgive each other and promise not to discuss the past again. It might be hard though. I have had hurtful relationship and my ex's want to try it again, but I said no. I knew I was going to bring up the past all the time.

Unfortunately we cannot erase the past. You have to just put it behind you, forgive where appropriate and move on. After a period of civility you may be able to rebuild. You do not say who did the hurting but it helps if that is the person who apologizes first, it is a good step.

Why? are you married to this person, do u have children, well if so, I would recommend , communiction, trust (that one is usually the hardest,depending on what happend), or even some type of couseling...but your also risking that hurtful relationship coming back ...so i dont know what else to say because i dont know what happend..

You have to establish trust which will come with time and communication. Talk about it with each other, let him know you won't accept the same behaviour and that it's gonna take a while for trust to come back. You both have to be willing to work hard together and understand it takes time.

It is my believe that if you truly love that person, you will have to forgive them whole heartily to have a chance to give them a second chance! If u can't forgive and forget.. then let it go!
