There are Spanish speaking plumbers working in my house and they keep leaving the door open for my 2 cats to get out. (Actually, the cats are my girlfriends, so imagine what I would be going through if one or both of them get out!!)

I really want to be nice when telling them to please keep the *&%$@* door closed, but they need to know that it's really getting to me having to watch them all the time.... (I just keep thinking what would happen if I wasn't here!!)

"Señores, les agradecería muchísimo si cerraran la puerta porque mis gatos se escapan cada que la dejan abierta, muchas gracias"

Could be a little difficult to pronunciate but it will really work!

"podrian ustedes mantener la puerta cerrada, por favor"
if you're speaking to them as a group.
"Could you all keep the door closed, please."

"poh-DREE-ahn oo-STEH-des mahn-tehn-NAIR lah PWAIR-tah sair-RRAH-da, por fah-BOR."

that's to help you not sound like a gringa when you speak.

"podria (usted) mantener la puerta cerrada, por favor."
if you're speaking to one person formally.
"Could you keep the door closed, please."

"podrias (tu) mantener la puerta cerrada, por favor."
if you're speaking to one person informally.

[the RR in "cerrada" should be pronounced like a growling lion. and the "d" should sound more like a "th"]
