I am on disablity right now due to a chronic and longstanding back pain condition. Occasionally I splurge for a massage because it helps so so much. I am wondering that, since this is being done for (mostly) medicincial reasons can I deduct this on my taxes with the rest of my medical deductions?

If you were to itemize, perhaps you would be able to pass it off as a miscallaneous medical expense, but most likely it will come out to be zero unless your expenses exceed a percentage of your income ( i believe 7.5%)

I hate to disappoint you, but the answer is no. As a Massage Therapist myself I can tell you that unfortunately you can not deduct this. What I can recommend for you though is to go to a Massage School. The students are in the clinic and the price is reasonable.

Not likely. Medical services are deductible if provided by doctors, dentists, and other medical practitioners. Expenses for your general health, even if following a doctor's advice, are not deductible.

Yes, though I would get a note from your doctor stating that it will help with recovery . That case, if you ever get audited, you tail is covered.
