Everyone does pens, magnets, calandars etc - look for something unusal that reflects your business.

Well, what type of business do you operate? I'm guessing if you sell Rap music a golf ball wouldn't do you much good.
However, if your company is music lessons, personalized guitar picks might target the right audience.

My advice is to define your target market and then pick a product that's somewhat unique to personalize. Like somebody else said, everybody does pens, pencils, magnets, etc...

The most effective way would be a pen. Let's say you left one for your server at a restaurant - then she would use that pen for her other customers to use (tons of visibility). If you want to spend a little more money, then shirts or caps would be great.

(None...they don't work...really...spend your money on figuring out your target instead of spending money on items that you want to give out to everyone.

No one is going to hire an accountant or law firm because it's on a pen...in fact I would avoid them because it's low-class....it's tacky. It's perfectly ok for a bank because it's part and parcel of the business and you're already their customer but not as a marketing tool.)
