According to the fact that they learn english very early their english is pretty much normal. It also depends on every person, but I dont think Germans have a strong acent.

So here is one for you what do you think Americans sound like?

I think Germans sound a little choppy and the other person is right about the Z thing. It is a good idea to watch comedies like Hogan's Hero because then they tend to exaggerated it and it is more easily picked up on. I have always wanted to learn German too because my Great Grandparents immigrated to here from Germany. LOL

w's are pronounced as v's
rarely, th's are pronounced as z's
they usually stress the first syllable of every word (that's how German works btw), which is why they seem to have that little pitch
Like your question, a German would sound like this :
HOW tus it sount ven CHERmans speak ENGlish?

younger Germans, though, have a less stronger accent, so it's less likely an 18-year old would sound like Ahnold.

A German accent. lol. Simple answer. Here's a thing for you to look at...try to find clips on the internet of an old comedy WW2 TV show "Hogan's Heroes".

It sounds as if they have a German accent. Some words may be guttural sounding.
