The Hobitt Error Message?

Half way through playing pc game The Hobitt I got an error message "Meridian.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". My video card is Radeon 9800 pro and I have 512 MB RAM so it seems that would be enough. What is Meridian.exe and why doesn't it want to work so late in game play?

There's a patch that should fix your problem.

Install the game - Full Installation.
Apply the official The Hobbit v1.3 Patch.
Replace the original MERIDIAN.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.
Play the Game!
