[I still can't edit. I have no idea why]

I KNOW about how many puppies a dog will have, as I HAVE been in the whole process before, but in Korea!

What I was asking was how many puppies I will get and how many I would give to the male dog owner!

As for the "ethical" question, I think it's more unethical to breed dogs just to get a "better breed". Dogs are for loving, friendly pets, not for showing off. I've had mutts, chihuahuas, shih tzus, poodles, jindos, and more, and no matter how soft their fur may be or how cute they may look, they are all the same in that they are loving, faithful pets and friends.

I personally love the Maltese breed and know a lot of people who cannot afford them because of the high price. I want to help those people. I reallly don't understand why everyone is so fussed over registering and pure breeds- a little mix here and there will NOT alter the behavior drastically. (Mutts make great pets and are healtheir, btw.)

Thanks for your time.

My husband and I have bred and raised dogs for quite sometime, the person with the stud, gets the pick of the litter, that's just the way it is, unless, they say you get the pick, which is very rare......

Well they may all be the same to you but I actually use my dogs and frankly, good conformation is important to doing a good job. Breeding a better dog is not about a beauty show, it's about making sure the dog's structure works properly so it can do the job it was bred to do. A dog with poor structure will have problems with soft tissue injury and these injuries will limit it's useful life. You may just sit around on the couch with your dogs but mine need their good structure to run, jump, weave and turn. Good conformation is essential for this. So while you may not care if your dog has horrid conformation that would cause it to break down within a few years of working, most breeders actually DO. Please excuse them for breeding a dog that can actually do the job it was intended for and for caring that all dogs should be bred to have good conformation, just in case you actually wanted to use your dog for something more than a companion.

Smaller breed dogs tend to have smaller litters, anywhere from 1-5 puppies. I have also heard that particular breed has trouble with actually giving birth, and may need a c-section. As for the owner of the stud, they may charge a stud fee, or request one puppy.....

we arent fussing over the purebred dog as a easy to own, cheap animal, we are fussing over the health, standard, temperment, responsiblity, ownership, and beauty and idea of a dog. A mixed breed dog is great, a pet quality dog is wonderful, but we have ENOUGH of them running around on the street and needing homes. We dont need people adding to the population... can you understand that? IF you want to BREED a purebred Maltese dog that fits standard, is healthy, great tempered, and wonderful companion and you did EVERYTHING by the book of a responsible owner, you can sell that dog for WHAT EVER price you want. If you want to give those dogs away for free and help the average joe in owning one, THEN thats your perogitive.
BUT DONT say you are going to cross mutts and breed poorly planned or poorly bred MALTESE so that you can sell them cheaper so you can give the average joe a cheaper dog, thats just plain stupidity. MIXING a dog does not hurt the dog in anyway if both the parents are totally healthy and disease free and great tempered, but why do it when there are 200,000 mix breed small sized dogs needing homes in shelters at any given time??? thats dumb too. Its Unethical to think that everyone needs a mixed breed dog in there life and breeding under the pretext of wanting to help out the people who cant afford that is really unethical too. Those people dont need a purebred for the 500$ or higher price, they can go to the shelter and pay 100$ for a spayed and nuetered mixed breed puppy.
ADDITIONAL INFO: For prosperity sake, I am a breeder of purebred Cardigan Welsh Corgi's and YES I do work for a shelter. BIG SUPRISE. My dogs are bred, for perfect conformation, perfect temperments, good health, good standard. My breeding dogs, are my pets first, they are GREAT they are not mixed in any way. They have proven themselves a great representation of there BREED. Some times I get a not-so-perfect puppy These puppies are fixed and sold at a diffrent price. I have strict rules. My dogs are only going to be bred 3 times in there Life. My male is already nuetered as of last week since he hit his 7 birthday. My females last litter was born a few months ago. Its her last one, she is 6 years old. Her first was born a little short of her 3 birthday. 1 litter a year is all she had, and I had people lined up to buy my dogs before she was bred, I also had people willing to buy the pet qualities before she was bred. I researched every owner. I also CUSTOM FIT the price to the people. I went to there homes or had them give me pictures and descriptions of there homes. I had a contract written up for them to sign. NO DOG of mine would be sent to a shelter under any circumstance, all dogs came back to me for any reason. All dogs not being shown, or planning on showing for standard should and will be nuetered and spayed. Most people wanting a puppy of mine agreed 100% and I havent had one problem with any owner. I have never had a puppy returned yet. Not that it will happen but I have prided myself on my breeding ethics. I use the ethics in ALLLLLL The animals I foster or have bred in my life.

Generally the stud dog owner gets either pick of the litter or the price of one of the puppies.

i think your dog will have about 6-9 puppies and its cool that you want to help the people who cant afford a dog but you need to keep in mind that if they cant afford to buy the dog what about the food and the propper care and how do they treat animals.
