I believe that if heaven exists (and I don't believe it does) it is a time-frozen bubble universe. You would be right in the assumption that there is nothing to do because there is nothing that could be done. This actually fits in very well with the classic explanations about heaven.
Hell, on the other hand best fits in with the concept simply of being "not-heaven" which does not preclude that it is the rest of the universe.
I've been thinking the past few days that the difference between religion and secularism comes down in part to stagnation and progress respectively. It's all begining to hang together in my head. It's far more political than it is anything else.

You should read Letters from the Earth by Mark Twain. You'd really enjoy it. He actually writes about how Heaven is supposed to be this great place but people would probably get fearfully bored there.
I've wondered that myself in the context of the story of Eden. It seems to me that, essentially Eve took the apple because she was BORED! Everything was too easy in the garden.

we have the same spirituality, society and culture in the next life as we do in this one. However, in the next life we have a FULL plate to choose from. in this life we have evil and oppression to bind us into paths we cannot choose another from.
in the next life we HAVE GOD the Father to show us how to live for eternity. And there are Goals of eternal worlds and everlasting and immortal lives to progress towards.
its called exaltation. People who dont want eternal progression can always choose to eat the forbidden fruit and start all over.
Here is apromise i have in the book of revelation: rev 3:21, 21:7. we can sit on a throne of God. Here is where christianity gets it wrong. if this verse is true.
if we follow the star trek Next generation serires and the voyager series and believe that the "Q" is a true depiction of what its like to live for eternity, than you might want to consider that this is an imagination of a man, not necessarily true at all. An eternal being would want to Look for things to do, and on top of that sincere children of God repent of things that cause boredom, like having an eternal perspective on owning a positive attitude. and without evil, or the lack of oppression positive attitudes are easily learned and groomed.
Heaven is not playing harps, for everyone! it is for those that choose to greet people with a chorous of angels, angels that want people to feel loved.

The only one who has ever lived and died on this who is in heaven now is Jesus Christ. That is a Biblical fact. Everyone else is merely asleep in the grave. No one has ascended in heaven except the first born of the Father, Jesus Christ. At the second coming of Jesus Christ, He will resurrect the dead and judge the world. Those who are of Christ who are resurrected and those saints that are living will be changed (born again) into a glorified spirit being body and become joint heirs and will rule with Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of God on earth. No one will ascend into heaven were God is at that time. Jesus will rule the earth as King from His throne in Jerusalem for the Millennium (1000 yr). His resurrected saints and those who are alive when he returns will reign with Christ as kings priests and teachers. There will be a functioning society on earth and every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and King. The government of Jesus will be established as they teach the rest of the world the word the will and the ways of God. There will be peace on earth forever.

I asked myself lots and lots of times!!! What if there's no heaven and there's no hell? What if life is the only place to live and then there's nothing, you stop thinking, feeling, living... Just live your life for what it's today, do good things for yourself , do as many things as you can, gain experiences and knowledge and you'll create a little earthy heaven to live in (in real life)... And after that, let whoever's above us (if there is one) to figure things out for us!!!

Let's see. Sitting on a cloud strumming a harp. How couldn't anyone be bored out of their skull. It must be the WORSE way to spend eternity.

Think about this...................exactly where is Heaven...........
I've flown many times and even at 36,000-40,000 feet, I didn't see it. Therefore, heaven, just like God/Jesus (they do NOT actually exist), they're only a figment of a religious person's imagination!
