I ask this question because i am very open to others beliefs... i think that as long as we love God and are true to one another thats all that matters. Faith is what i think is important. But unfortunately some don't think like that , which is what seems to cause wars, fights, arguments. For example i have a best friend who is Catholic and her boyfriend is Muslim...his parents would not allow him to date her...because of religion and culture. Then i never thought i would argue with my boyfriend about religion but i guess it hit me in the head...I started dating this person who i really like but if i'm to be categorized i call myself Catholic which i consider a denomination of Christianity. anyways it seemed to be a problem to him once we started getting more serious. I explained to him that i too believe in God and Jesus being the son of God. This led to bickering and i let him know that i was who i was and i would not change he said that if i went to his church i had to be babtized.

my problem was that he didn't see me as a Christian! i was babtized as an infant... i feel i don't need to be babtized again...its only one God...Muslims believe in the sameGOd as Do the Jewish, All Christian Denominations....so why fight over religions....this seems to have cost me my relationship...although he may deny it.

thank you and like i said i wouldn't have a problem having a relationship with someone that had different beliefs(as long its not satan) but other than that it wouldn't matter to me i RESPECT other's thoughts..plus faith belongs to an individual...what ever makes one happy right?

like i said i have my beliefs...and in my religion one gets babtized as a child because we are born sinners...and thus we must be forgiven also there is a verse that says that if we do not take god as a child we have no way into his kingdom... it seems harsh and unfair if it means what i interpret it as but thats how i was taught...i really don't see why it would be wrong...or meaningless to be baptized as a child other than perhaps i did not know what was going on. I am not trying to push on you what i believe...but just respect and do not tell me it is meaningless... you are not GOd you do not get to judge... :) but thanks

Religion is spiritual path. There are many spiritual paths, each one is specific to the person walking it. It is all about the journey, and how comfortable it makes you, what you learn, and how you connect with Deity.

So, does religion matter? No, not really. Does it matter if you take the highway, or the backroads? It is your choice. It's the journey, not the path you take.

So, it seems that to some people, it does matter, to others it does not. And yes, this causes relationship problems.

You have to decide - his highway, or your highway? Or the back roads? Does it matter to you?

That is your answer.

Many Protestant churches don't believe Catholics are Christians. Speaking from what I think would be his point of view, many Protestants believe infant baptism isn't legit. They feel since the child is a baby he/she has no knowledge of what is going on and why they are being baptized. Protestants (not all) believe the decision to serve Christ is made later in life when they have the ability to understand all it entails, then they get baptized. Make sense? So many don't believe the Catholic baptism is a legitimate baptism since the child wasn't aware.
I on the otherhand feel that many Catholics are Christians (I go to a Protestant church) because the def. of a Christian is someone that serves Christ, which most if not all Catholics do. My husband is Catholic (I'm Protestant) and the only time our spiritual differences mattered is when we let them matter. In other words, when we allowed other's comments and advice to override what was in our hearts, we were thinking with their words and their ideals, not ours. Unless you both can decide to respect eachothers differences or find a compromise then it will be an issue, but it's not impossible to overcome. My husband and I are happily married, it hasn't been easy, the religious thing was tough, but we made it, but only because we decided to make it work. True love takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Decide whether he's worth it and see if he feels the same way, from there explore your options. Go to both churches, find a church in the middle without straying too far from your beliefs, etc. Most importantly pray about it and seek your truth. In other words, determine what it is you really truly believe, together, and who knows, somewhere down the line through this search you will come to a resolution or revelation. Good luck!

On the issue of baptism, there were not infant baptisms in the bible Jesus was not baptized till he was 29. The reason for this is that you can not dedicate you life to something unless you know why and an infant does not know why. That is why, at least in my faith, you can not be baptized till you have come to an accurate knowledge of the bible. Unfortunately there are different religions and not just a way of life that is guided by God, I'm sorry you have the problem you do. Talk more to your boyfriend, when he said you had to be baptized to go to his church couldn't be true. If you want to become a part of a faith you need to learn it before you can dedicate yourself to it and that is what church should be...a place to learn about God.

Yes, your religion matters.
There is false doctrine.
There are false Christs.
There are denominations that are not full-gospel.

My father was catholic, as were all his family. Thank God for my mother.

When you get b-a-p-t-i-s-e-d, you do it as an adult that is dying to the old sinful life. In the simplest terms, you die to your will as you are put under the water, and when you come up out of the water, you are resurrected from the way of death (sin) unto life (doing God's will). You die to your will, and you do God's will.

A baby does not understand what it means to be baptised. My father and that whole side of my family will suffer hellfire for believing a lie unto damnation.
Catholicism is false doctrine, young lady. I hate to be the one to tell you that, but that is the truth. The catholic practices go directly against the teachings of Jesus Christ. Praying the rosary ( praying in vain repetition), keeping crufixes, statues and other graven images ( idolatry), praying through saints or through Mary (Jesus Christ is the ONLY mediator between man and God). Mary has no power in heaven. The saints have no power in heaven.

These are things that Jesus commanded of us. They were not suggestions. A priest cannot give you an act of contrition to atone for a sin. He has no power. The sacrifice Jesus made on that cross paid the price for sin. It was all the atonement ever needed. For ALL sins.

Coming from a catholic family, I know about catholicism. It will lead you straight to hell. Get saved. Be born again in spirit, and serve and worship God in spirit and in truth. That is what He wants of us.

There are millions of religious people. Jesus said that strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few there be that find it.
Still think that your religion does not matter?

Go to www.carm.org. Read about catholicism. Learn about false doctrine, and learn about truth. This is an apologetics website. Apologetics is the defense of the Word of God, and the defense of Christianity.

Before you think that muslims are Christian, they are NOT. They teach that Jesus Christ was NOT the Son of God.

STILL think that your religion does not matter?

Do not think that I am judging you or catholicism. The Word of God in the Bible judges, and rightly so.

You have been told, and what you do with the knowledge is up to you.

EDIT : There is no verse in the Bible that says if you do not accept God when you are a child, that you can never accept Him. You are being taught lies and false doctrine.

Your "religion" does not matter at all. what does matter is whether or not you have a personal relationship with Jesus. Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior? Do you pray to the Father thru Jesus as the open door? Infant baptism means absolutely nothing, you must be old enough to make the decision to follow Christ or reject Him. These are the only things that matter in eternity.

The devil told Jesus that if Jesus would do ONE act of worship before him, that the Devil would give Jesus the glory of the world, because the world belongs to the devil. (temporary)

So at Luke 4:1-13 Jesus said to the devil, It is written, 'It is YHWH/Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service."

Satan says he can turn everyone away from God. That is why God said, "Be wise, my son, that I might make a reply to him that is taunting me."

A good example of this is Job. Satan destroyed his family and material possessions, but Job would not curse God. After God restored his possessions and gave him 10 more children. In Paradise Job will get the other 10 back.

It totally depends on the society, culture and times you live in.
Even if you were a Buddhist and could live a perfectly healthy, decent life without any gods, or a Pagan with thousands of them, it should not matter, and in parts of the world and for some couples it really doesn't.
You'll have to decide what's more important to you, love or religion, and so does your boyfriend.
Al this organized religion and the brainwashing of the flock is of evil in my eyes, and humanity would be way better off without it.

Well...unfortunately, it does matter.

You see...blessings, salvation, and entry to heaven are NOT dependent upon being a good person. If that were true, than any "good" person (regardless of religion) would be blessed and go to heaven.

BUT...the hard-core, bare truth...is that blessing, salvation, and entry to heaven are based on GRACE alone.

That is...it is a FREE gift.

AND...the only way to receive this gift is through faith in Jesus Christ.

See John 14:6!

yes it does matter...
because this is one of those issues where than can only be one true answer...think about it: every religion contradicts the others in so many ways...

our eternal destiny--Heaven or Hell--depends on whether we hold the correct faith...you need to read the Bible and see how narrow Jesus makes this choice of religion...Jesus said
1. "He that is not with me is against me"
2. "No man cometh to the Father, but by me..."
3. "Broad is the way that leads to destruction (Hell), and many there be which go in there; straight is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads to life eternal (Heaven), and few there be that find it."

I actual tend to accept as true with your standards. coaching the Bible and following Jesus is the main obligatory. i do no longer think of there's a denomination that is going to be one hundred% for all of us using fact they're created from people. i think of if the church is doing what you stated then you are loose to compliment in accordance to the form that suits you. the form of music, form of worship, gown, etc. are all only possibilities besides. The unacceptable religions does no longer be following the classes of Jesus. they could be approximately judging others, spreading gossip, controlling management that does no longer enable the downtrodden, needy or undesirable and hurting to experience like they're of only as plenty fee to God as all of us else. I doubt in the event that they have one call. you will possibly understand them quickly adequate and only no longer want to be there.
