16oz. Gloves are what you need .... just make sure they ARE NOT bag gloves ... TRAINING gloves are what you need OR BOXING gloves for sparring ... i wouldn't recommend using the Boxing gloves on bags though ... Training gloves will work for both sparring and hitting the bags .....

I'm 6'1" 200 and I was told by my trainer GREG ARDON
to use 16oz Training gloves ... I use a pair of $30.00 Blue Everlast Hook & Loop Glove .. Works fine for me ....

no, those arent too heavy for a guy youre size...i spar with 14oz gloves, but im 141 lbs....for amateur competition you will use 10oz gloves, but for sparring either 14 or 16.

It all depends on how much pain you can take. trainers usually employ 16oz gloves, however if you don't want to hurt your sparring partner or yourself use 18oz a little more padding will mean a lot less pain

WELL I THINK WE USE 18 OZ GLOVES WHEN WE SPAR BUT USE THE HEAVIEST GLOVES YOU COULD FIND TO USE.SO YOU COULD GET MORE SPEED ...ITS WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR FIGHTS....THATS WHAT MATTERS IN BOXING NOT THE POWER THE MORE PUNCHES THE OFFICIALS SEES THE MORE POINTS YOU GET ...THEY WONT FEEL YOUR POWER THEY ONLY SEE THE PUNCHES..

If you are sparing you need to use 16oz. You are too big for something smaller.

For your size, those should be good.
