the age old battle mother-in-law vs. wife and poor smuck that's stuck between the two of them being pulled like Taffy i had a few disagreements with my mother in law and we worked them out to the point that 12 years after i divorced her son we are still friends and i am a mother in law (sort of) son living with the mother of his children, and she and i have had a few very heated exchanges over the last 6 years but i have to say its hard on either side of this fence the only thing that the 2 woman have in common is they love the man in the middle and want to feel validated and he seems to want to please both to the point he does nothing lol mother in laws interfere and daughter in laws have faults too

No she is actually very respectful about our privacy. She rarely even calls. When my husband and I were dating the story was a little bit different. She did say a few things that offended me but we got over it. Give her time to get use to her new role. For some reason it's hard for them picturing someone else taking care and comforting their son. She will eventually let go.

people don't interfere with our lives unless we let them.
if you want to be nice about it, you can tell your mother in law that while you appreciate her "help", you don't need her advice until you ASK for some.

She used to be when we were courting, and butt her nose in where it wasn't wanted, but I soon stopped it. I had a quiet word with my to be father-in-law, and he told her to back off. I'm my own person and don't like being dictated too. It Worked.!
