That is so wierd i had this discussion not long ago whilst drinking! Yeah! it seems so horrible and cruel when they are put in the boiling water and it can take up to 15 seconds for them to die its not like to die instantly. Although they do not feel pain as us humans feel it they still feel some sort of pain and we will never know how much it hurts them. I totally agree i feel realy sorry for them. There are campaigns going on in the uk at the moment on banning the cruel way of killing them. A group called the shellfish network is campaigning for them to have the same rights as mammals. We as humans wouldnt like to put in a tank of boiling water so why should we do it to the poor lil bastrds. There is this new method that electrocutes the poor things and renders them unconscious before they are boiled but im not convinced that it is full proof. Babes feeling sorry for them does not make u abnormal it just means u have a heart unlike the cruel bastards who sanctified this act of totall cruelty. Lets just hope that ths group manages to succed in banning it, then maybe we wont have to see the poor lil buggers suffer. untill then i profusely refuse to eat lobster

I always take a chef's knife and place the point just behind the head at the edge of that little carapiece thing, and you just push it straight down and forward thru the head. It's pretty much an instant death.

But honestly, the way a lobster's nervous system is set up, I really don't think they feel pain the same way humans do. I imagine it's not pleasant, of course, but I don't think it owuld qualify as tortorous or anything.

I do! That's why I don't eat lobster. I don't eat any meat because the ways in which they kill the poor animals seems so mean. But that's just me...

I cant stand Vegetarins and people who hate people killing pigs or whatever to eat. Because in my opinion in the end if it tastes nice wheres the problem. I cant understand how you dont eat meat. I can understand the prinicpal but I know there are some people who tr to stop it and make more Vegetarins.
I also no someone who has got very very ill from not eating meat.
But my view is if its yummy.....

Lobbos don't have a nervous system as we know it. That's why they can fight and lose a leg or claw without feeling pain. The "screaming" sound one can sometimes hear is actually air escaping from the shell.
They don't feel a thing.

I find it rather distasteful that some of us have such plentiful supplies that we can allow ourselves the luxury of feeling sorry for our food, when so many people in the world are starving!!!

I feel sorry for it!! Imagine you're in a pot of boiling water being cooked slowly, and something's/someone's sitting there going , " well he has no feelings", and we've gotta eat".
