i only found programs for mpeg videos. are these the only things available or is it posiible for other file types as well?

I am not sure from your question if you want to keep the audio or the video

If you want to keep the video you can use any video editing software, just lower the sound value to 0 when you render.

If you want to keep the audio only there are a few programs available. Check out Freewarefiles.com, there are a couple on there that will save your audio as .mpeg or .wav
